5 things every traveller should know about India

5 things every traveller should know about India

1. Watch out for the Indian paparazzi! As a (white) westerner travelling in India and particularly when visiting sites that are popular with Indian (rather than foreign) tourists, you will at some point become a tourist attraction yourself.  So it starts … with one baby Mostly, the interest is harmless. Families want to come and say hello, welcome you to India and have their photo taken with you. It can get a bit annoying though, particularly when you’re just trying to…

Photo Friday: the birds at Guatapé

Photo Friday: the birds at Guatapé

While visiting Guatapé in Colombia on a day trip from Medellin, as well as enjoying the amazing views from La Piedra, we also enjoyed a spot of bird watching. These impressive birds were circulating La Piedra the whole time we were climbing up the 659 steps to the top. The highs (and lows) of our visit to the Bolivian salt flats

The highs (and lows) of our visit to the Bolivian salt flats

Our trip to Bolivia’s salt flats and other worldly landscapes of the country’s southwest was somewhat cursed from the start. First off we missed the bus that we had intended to take to Uyuni (where most tours to the salt flats start), as we struggled to find a taxi and then the police decided to check our taxi drivers papers. We arrived at the bus station, just as the very full bus was leaving. This was not too much of…
